Tatort is the kind of series that keeps people sitting on the edge of their seat. Since I mentioned I thought I should put up some info. In the original Tatort episodes he was accompanied by Christian Thanner, a soft, well - dressed policeman who often served as a foil for the proletarian Schimanski. Combined with the fact that the episodes are, at 90 minutes long, almost movie-length and with rarely more than 30 episodes in one year, this makes for a cultural phenomenon closer to a string of than a typical police series. Every Tatort episode features a different team of inspectors in a different city. It should not be too easy to catch up on those though if the viewer is really determined. Uniqueness in architecture, customs and dialects of the cities is therefore a distinctive part of the series and often the city, not the police force is the real main character of an episode. Therefore, the series is a collection of different police stories where different police teams each solve crimes in their respective city. I always loved comics and even wrote and drew some. I just picked the video at random I´m tired so I don´t know if it´s any good. This sometimes leads to situations where, for instance, a Tatort set in is actually produced in , with only a handful of scenes shot 'on location' in the town the story is supposed to be set in. Switzerland's joined the pool from 1990 to 2001 and again in 2011 and distributes its episodes through its channel.

Each of the roughly 20 active teams appears one to two times each year. The series premiered in 1971, less than a year after the first Tatort. By 1991 the show had run it's course, probably on the insistence and to the relief of George, who went on to become on of the most celebrated actors of contemporary German cinema. One of the most popular Tatort series was the one in which Götz George played the officer Schimanski. Sometimes, actually quite often, the solution of the crime also is quite dangerous for the people who are involved. The new Schimanski-show was still popular, but many old-time-fans, diligently watching each new episode despite everything, would complain that without the old setting and crew, the chemistry simply wasn't the same any longer.
